Why do we call our Food Truck’s little sister, “The Oaxacan Wagon”? I dunno. She started out as “The Taco Cart” but all us of over here at Heirloom Headquarters kept calling her “The Oaxacan Wagon”. No one can really explain, but tacos are rarely cooked off of her and the name just stuck.

Snoop Dogg Calls Matt "Young-Blood" at a Soirée
In case you were wondering… Matt and Snoop Dogg (very significant height difference here) presented the cake together at this birthday party. I do not have a picture because the two were mobbed. Okay, Snoop Dog was mobbed.

Farewell Foie Gras
Our kitchen is divided over the Foie Gras Ban that is about to occur at the end of dinner service tonight here in California. One of our event planners is indulging in a 30 course foie gras tasting menu in Pasadena and a couple of our cooks suggested filling up our walk-in before the law takes effect so that we could then serve up this delicacy underground as if we were a speakeasy.

Wit & Whimsy with Anthology Magazine
In February we were asked, along with our very creative friends at Casa de Perrin, to host a whimsical shoot in The Salon, with the talented Max Wanger behind the camera, for Anthology Magazine. Any excuse to hang with these peeps, we are down. And as for Anthology Magazine, it is a lush, unpretentious pictorial journal that feels more like a merry design book for your coffee table.

Just Another Day In the Kitchen
I love this photo. If anyone ever asks what it’s like to work in our kitchen, this is the photo that describes it all. Everyone working hard (we’re busy!) with Migs in the center commandeering as a benevolent but firm leader. Miguelito on the right there scooping out my cookie dough, George to the left trying his hardest to learn as much as he can as fast as he can, and the others in the back are banging out the prep list, working fast and respectfully.
